Compassion NOLA

To be compassionate is to be a visionary. You recognize when suffering is present, but see beyond the suffering to health and healing.

Compassion enriches life for yourself and others. It improves your personal and professional relationships, and supports your health. It strengthens your ability to respond to challenges. Compassion decreases stress and increases joy.

Compassion NOLA is a project designed to expand compassion practices across New Orleans and beyond. Compassion NOLA offers a variety of compassion and writing worshops, retreats and trainings to help you cultivate compassion for yourself and others, tell your personal stories and communicate your point of view.

Lara Naughton, Director of Compassion NOLA, is the only instructor in the Gulf South certified to teach Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT), designed at the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) at Stanford University School of Medicine. She is Chair of Creative Writing at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.

“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”
